Wetlands Inventory, Assessment and Monitoring (WIAM) and Economic Valuation (EV) Tool Training

As part of capacity building initiatives, CSUWN organized a 6-day training to impart the Wetlands Inventory, Assessment and Monitoring (WIAM) and Wetlands Economic Valuation (EV) Tool for Technical Officials of various Ministries. The combined WIAM and EV tool training was initiated on 11th June, Monday and concluded on 16th June, Saturday. During the inaugural session, Mr. Top B. Khatri, NPM welcomed the participants and highlighted the objective and the scope of the combined training.
The training was conducted based on the guidance of the training manuals produced by CSUWN. It also included a field exercise to Taudaha, Lalitpur and Nagdaha, Lalitpur to help demonstrate the data collection procedure of the WIAM and EV tool respectively. The WIAM training was conducted by Mr. Shailendra Pokharel and the EV tool training was conducted by Mr. Shyam Upadhaya.
A total of 10 officials from wetland-relevant sectoral Ministries, such as Ministry of Irrigation, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation and it's Departments such as, Department of Plant Resource, Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, Department of Soil Conservation and Watershed Management, Department of Forest Research and Survey participated in the training.
During the closing session, the chief guest, Mr. K.P. Acharya, DG, DNPWC awarded the certificates of the trainings and encouraged the participants to apply their new skills in their day-to-day business
